Welcome to The Coffs Coast Writers Centre
CCWC AGM @ Toormina High School – Enter front entrance at Armstrong Drive, Toormina. Saturday Oct 1st at 9am
At the AGM a resolution will be put forward to change the name of the incorporated body from CCWC to the Bellingen Readers and Writers (BRWF)
CCWC was a great idea (perhaps before its time) and has run successful workshops and as an incorporated body it usefully auspiced BRWF, but lacking funding has not run a program that would attract members. Whereas BRWF is a successful festival. This does not mean the end of CCWC which may well continue offering events outside the BRWF and producing Coffs Write e-magazine.
If you are interested in the literary life of this region, do come along to the meeting.
For more information please contact me John bennett at email@example.com Tel 65695917
Please note: The Writers Centre is currently virtual. Due to funding issues the office space at the Toormina Community Centre is not now open.
We will be offering workshops as fundraisers in the near future. Watch this space.
Coffs Write issue 2 is now online – see what a diversity of writings this region covers
We were incorporated in April 2015, so our journey has just begun – and we want you to come along with us. This site is being developed, along with the operations of the Centre.
Please tell us what you would like the writers centre to do – this is a centre for the reading and writing community – that’s you! And we will listen to your ideas, and act on them if we can. firstname.lastname@example.org
Meanwhile, we intend to create a program of workshops, readings, book launches, and writers-in-residence that will excite everyone involved in reading or writing on the Coffs Coast.
Our ambitions include creating a viable venue for workshops and events at the Toormina Community Centre (formerly the Bayldon Community Centre); to be an auspicor for community groups and assist them to obtain grants for their own projects too; to publicise all literary events (workshops, festivals, readings etc.) in the Coffs, Bellingen, Dorrigo and Nambucca regions.
We want to offer members a useful news blog, the chance to contribute to a new e-magazine, ‘Coffs Write’. We want to coordinate writers in residence and ongoing writer visits to schools, offer special events such as pitching to publishers, offer manuscript assessment and access to editors and other services. We will be linked to and contribute to the coordination of the Bellingen Readers & Writers Festival (annually in June). And we want to play a part in assisting the Coffs region to become a dynamic arts hub that can attract businesses and residents, sea and tree-changers.
If you would like to help us with sponsorship, financial or voluntary support, that would help immeasurably – please send us an email.
